When your computer is new and using Windows, you don’t mind seeing the familiar floppy disk drive icon in the start menu. The icon looks like a hand with the index finger on top and the rest of the hand covered by a transparent but transparent blue background. Floppy disk drives come with a magnetic strip on the bottom that keeps the disk’s data secure. However, as your computer becomes used with more programs installed, the files become stored in the PC’s registry. This makes Windows update its database, making the operating system need to download all these new Windows updates.
Floppy disk drive icons do not get a modern look until Windows becomes a Windows XP or Vista computer. The Windows updates do cause the image to change. When Windows tries to find some old entries in its database, it finds these entries and removes them. As this happens, your icon may also get updated. You can, however, easily prevent Windows updates from causing your computer’s icon to become outdated.
You can make your computer update faster by setting the Windows XP or Vista operating system to auto-update. The Windows Update feature is very useful for letting your computer know about newer additions to the Windows program. By setting your computer to automatically update every day, Windows computers will get only the needed files. The problem is, some of the updates can be bad for your Windows drive. If the update causes your computer’s hard drive to get damaged, you’ll end up with a very slow computer.
The most common way for a Windows computer’s icon to get outdated is to use it more than once. Each time you use your PC, you fill the disk with new programs and files. Over time, your PC’s memory gets full, and the old data on your disk becomes inaccessible. When your disk drive becomes full, the drive icon will appear and tell you that your data cannot be found.
To keep your old data accessible, you need to update your Windows so that your computer can find the data. The Windows XP and Vista operating systems have built-in features to find and replace the old data on a floppy disk drive. To do this, you have to open “My Computer” and then click the “ories” tab. Next, open the “ORY” tab and then click the button “System Tools”. Once you have done so, you should see an option for finding the floppy disk drive icon that you want to update.
Double click the button “Update Driver” and then follow the simple instructions. This will enable your Windows computer to find the correct icon on your drive and make it look like it recently upgraded. Then, when you want to change the look of your icon, all you have to do is press the “Delete” button, and the computer will automatically remove it from your computer’s hard drive.
